Look at this standard as one that goes further than ISO/IEC Lab Guide 25 did by setting required elements in your quality system that meets Lab Guide 25 and also incorporates the requirements of ISO 9000 that are relevant to the scope of testing and calibration.  Companies that achieve accreditation therefore also operate in accordance with ISO 9000.

Certification to ISO 9000 by itself does not meet the 17025 standard, as ISO 9000 does not of itself demonstrate the competence of your company to produce technically valid data and results.

Acceptance of the testing and calibration results between companies and countries are facilitated if your company obtains accreditation to this standard.
